SMRT: 'On Feb 4 at around 11.30pm, our staff at Simei MRT station received a report of a male commuter vaping in the train travelling towards Pasir Ris.'

In response to a Stomp query, SMRT Trains President Lam Sheau Kai said: “On Feb 4 at around 11.30pm, our staff at Simei MRT station received a report of a male commuter vaping in the train travelling towards Pasir Ris.

"Upon notification, we immediately checked with staff from other stations and examined CCTV footage for the man. However, we could not find anyone matching the description provided to us.had shared a video of the man vaping while sitting cross-legged on the floor of the carriage. "The guy walked all the way to the first cabin where he sat down on the floor even though there were empty seats," recounted the Stomper.

"He took off his shoes and kept rubbing his foot. He then started vaping and ignored the stares, looking at his handphone on his leg the whole time."The use of e-vaporisers was banned in Singapore on Feb 1, 2018. Those caught purchasing, using or having in their possession such products in Singapore are liable to a fine of up to $2,000.
