Barcelona are interested in the Manchester City full-back but such a transfer would likely test their financial limits.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta says his club will look to bring in “more than one” signing before the window shuts on Friday as the La Liga champions continue to chase Joao Cancelo.
He instead went to Bayern Munich, who ultimately opted against triggering his buy-out clause despite a goal and six assists in 21 appearances. Cancelo’s January move was sparked by a rift with boss Pep Guardiola, something which does not seem to be resolved. Xavi also confirmed Barcelona were hunting new recruits when speaking ahead of the Catalan club’s 4-3 win over Villarreal. He said: "We'll see, depending on fair play, as always. Financially we are in the situation we are in, unfortunately.
