U.S. President Donald Trump offered a biting retort when asked about former first lady Barbara Bush’s disdain for him.
The Bushes represent a Republican Party that is hardly recognizable anymore in the era of Trump. Trump ran his presidential campaign attacking her son President George W. Bush for the war in Iraq and embarrassed another son, Jeb Bush, during the 2016 GOP presidential primary. “I hit him very hard in South Carolina,” Trump said in the interview. “Remember? He was supposed to win South Carolina and I won it in a landslide. I hit him so hard.”
