Bankman-Fried said during an interview Monday with the “Unusual Whales” platform on Twitter Spaces that he would use Zoom to speak with House Financial Services Committee members, from his residence in the Bahamas.
FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried will testify to a House panel on Tuesday remotely instead of in person, in a high-profile appearance before Congress as lawmakers seek to understand how his crypto exchange imploded.
The FTX founder was pressed on Twitter Spaces about whether his refusal to appear in person was due to a fear of being arrested, as the New York Post reported. Bankman-Fried responded that he was deterred by the “paparazzi.” Legal experts have told MarketWatch that Bankman-Fried risks being taken into U.S. custody if he enters the country.
