Widely regarded as one of the greatest shows ever produced by HBO, Band of Brothers is held up by incredible camera work and filming technique.

HBO's 2001 historical epic series Band of Brothers is widely regarded as one of the greatest TV shows ever created, largely due to the groundbreaking realism created by the ingenious camera work of its production crew. The show's creators took great pride in bringing viewers the most authentic viewpoint possible of Easy Company's journey from preparation in England to the Eagle's Nest in Austria, and to do so required next-level practical effects.

What better way to recreate a Douglas C-47 Skytrain than by using the genuine article? The production crew on Band of Brothers managed to wrangle up an old C-47 to use for mid-flight scenes from Episode 2, "Day of Days.

4 D-Day Trench Combat Was Shot With a Custom-Made Rickshaw In Episode 2 of Band of Brothers, "Day of Days", the men of Easy Company battle their way through trenches to take out guns firing upon the invading Normandy forces that are set up at Brecourt Manor. At one point as Damian Lewis' Lt. Dick Winters runs through the trench, the camera precedes him, moving backwards while facing Winters as he runs along the trench.

Millions of pounds of a paper/plastic mix were used to recreate the snow, and specially-designed artificial trees helped simulate the exploding mortar rounds that rained debris down on the soldiers in their foxholes. Almost entirely without the use of CGI, the crew was able to successfully recreate an exploding wintry forest completely indoors. This was thanks, in large part, to the convincingly chilly acting of the show's stars.
