Patek spoke on camera in a casual interview filmed in Porong prison, claiming his involvement in the 2002 attacks that killed 202 people was a mistake.
At trial, he was accused of assembling the explosives that ripped through Bali's Sari Club and Paddy's Irish Bar, killing 202 people, including 88 Australians. But he is now due to walk free from Porong prison within days after being granted an early release as part of Indonesia's Independence Day. He has served only half his sentence.
"Nine-hundred-and-fifty kilograms of explosives were packed and ready, and they insisted on going ahead with it."
