Four people died when a bakkie drove off the R28 bridge in Krugersdorp on the West Rand, paramedics said on Tuesday.
Provincial Fire Services had to use the jaws of life equipment to free the bodies from the vehicle.
Herbst said it was believed that the driver of the bakkie lost control and went over the bridge, crashing onto the road below.The fire and rescue services had to use the jaws of life equipment to remove the bodies from the wreckage.
