Biscuit Week bears some analysis as the concept of an 'illusion macaron' is interrogated and Sandro is crowned Legend of the Week

is a creature of habit, and so we have arrived at Week 2, which is traditionally Biscuit Week. Regardless of all the different challenges every year, there are a few things that will always be true of Biscuit Week. Someone will make over 100 biscuits in a single bake , someone else’s Showstopper will smash , a third person will do something very, very odd with brandy snaps .

That said, there were a few idiosyncrasies to this year’s proceedings that do bear examining, from the concept of an “illusion macaron” to the particularly bizarre Showstopper. Once more into the biscuit breach, dear friends., and so I am forced to accept that the show will air for 90 minutes every week.

Carole’s were first up, and received middling feedback, while Sandro, whose announcement of his own burger order – “A triple cheeseburger. I also get a full chicken burger with it. And nuggets.” – was the most relatable moment of the episode, got the better judgement of the two. Elsewhere, Dawn and Maxy got the first Hollywood handshakes of the series, for their daisy and yoyo-shaped macarons respectively.

Prue’s devilish addition of chocolate also served to throw the bakers further, including a couple who thought that her instruction to “feather” the white chocolate meant actually making feather-shaped decorations. And shout out to James, who came second, and admitted that seeing those other bakers wasting their sweet time painstakingly making these adornments, and didn’t tell them because he wanted to win.
