The use of gadgets while walking in public places will now be taboo according to Baguio City Council Monday.
As stated by Baguio City Councilor Francis Robert Ortega, the use of gadgets while walking in public spaces is a great danger since it leads to unwanted tragedies.
The Anti-Distracted Walking Ordinance of 2018, by Scout Official For-A-Day Councilor Eriko Coscoluela, seeks to ensure the safety of pedestrians.The list of penalties for the said ordinance is as follows:Second offense: P1, 000 fine and community serviceFourth offense: P2, 500 fine with 11-30 days of community service
The said ordinance, however, still needs the signature of Mayor Benjamin Magalong, and if signed, will be in effect after 15 days.
