Bongani Ngezana, a Bafana Bafana defender playing for FCSB in Romania, is reportedly attracting interest from both English Championship side Birmingham City and Italian Serie A club Lecce. The clubs are willing to pay the transfer fee requested by FCSB president Gigi Becali.
A Bafana Bafana international continues to see his star rise and is now linked with clubs both in England as well as Italy for this window.Despite a slow start to life in Romania, Ngezana went from near flop to one of the best players in the league. In fact, barely six months into the chapter at FCSB , he was already being linked with moves to France and Turkey. He was making team of the week selections on a regular basis as well. In the end all of that resulted in two big awards.
Ngezana went on to win Defender of the Year as well as Foreign Player of the Year in the Romania. Following that success, more European interest has followed him. According to reports, Ngezana has attracted interest from both Lecce and Birmingham City, and they are both willing to pay the required fee by the outspoken club president Gigi Becali. Any potential sale could become lucrative for his former club, as Chiefs are understood to hold a 10% sell-on fee for the towering defender, with his current contract with FCSB only expiring in June 2027. It would be interesting to see if FCSB would be willing to sell Ngezana at any price in mid-season. The club are still involved in thecoming. This will be music to the ears of South Africans as a Bafana player continues to progress in Europe. That can only help to improve the quality of the national team. Should Ngezana go to England (Birmingham) or Italy (Lecce)? Or should he stay patient at FCSB and at least finish the season? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below
