When the schedule for this season was released, the fact we were getting such a storied rivalry match just three weeks in raised eyebrows. There were concerns on United’s behalf that it might be early in new manager Erik ten Hag’s tenure to take on their rampant old enemies.
Nunez is now suspended for three matches, which is the last thing Liverpool need with an already-lengthy injury list. So does ten Hag stick with his style to try and drill the way he wants to play long-term into his team? Or does he adapt to avoid horrific mistakes and cheap goals like the ones given up in the first two matches?
Everton hosts Nottingham Forest and there are bigger themes at play here. Everton barely escaped relegation last season and are off to a dreadful start. They are limited in the amount of money they can spend to increase the quality of the squad because they’ve wasted truckloads of money on crap players. Which brings us to Forest.
It’s not like Canadian consumers have an option, but they really need to address the sloppy product they are charging people for or they’ll struggle to attract or retain the more casual customers. After 10 titles in a row, Juventus haven’t been a factor the past two seasons, but they got off to a flyer thanks to a pair of goals from striker Dusan Vlahovic. He was brought in from FIorentina in January, but was up and down for the back half of last season.
