Jamie Bacon is charged with one count of counselling someone to murder for the unsuccessful attempt on Karbovanec’s life more than a decade ago.
In grainy surveillance video from New Year’s Eve 2008, Dennis Karbovanec can be seen walking quickly across a street and toward Mission Memorial Hospital.
She pointed herself out on the video, which was one of four played in B.C. Supreme Court on Monday at the trial of Jamie Bacon. Marinaccio recalled Monday that the man in white was yelling repeatedly that he had been shot. She saw the blood on him and “a gouge” in the top of his head. There was another wound on his side “that he was holding, she told Justice Catherine Wedge and jurors.“I believe I said calm down” to the wounded male. “He was very angry … I believe he yelled at me. I don’t remember what he said.”
Chapman testified Monday that she had no memories of treating Karbovanec that night, but did read over hospital reports she completed during her shift.“Obvious bullet wound to scalp. Also bullet wound to back/abrasion,” the nurse wrote.
