From Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha’s eventful week, the motion to rename Cape Town International Airport and the fire that displaced residents in Alexandra township, here are five stories that dominated headlines this week.A video of what appears to be gqom star Babes Wodumo being assaulted, allegedly by long-time boyfriend and fellow musician Mampintsha, went viral on social media on Monday.
The video received much traction on social media, with the public calling for the arrest of Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo. Maphumulo was arrested on Tuesday and appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on charges relating to the assault. He was released on R2,000 bail. Mampintsha also laid a charge against Wodumo. Speaking to journalists outside the court on Tuesday, he claimed the musician was also violent towards him.
