Victoria procession, memorial for Queen Elizabeth II to be held Monday
A ceremony to honour Queen Elizabeth II will be held at Victoria’s Christ Church Cathedral on Monday, Sept. 19, coinciding with theFirst, a procession will take place at 10:15 a.m., beginning at the B.C. Legislature then travelling to Christ Church Cathedral.
It will include B.C. Lt.-Gov. Janet Austin, Premier John Horgan, members of the Canadian Armed Forces and others, and will include a 21-gun salute.Experts sayThose who cannot attend as seating will be limited will be able to livestream the event on the cathedral’sSign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.More details are expected to be released about the memorial service in the coming days.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that Monday will be a federal holiday to mourn the Queen’s passing, which will apply to federal employees and those in federally regulated industries. It will be left to provinces to decide whether to extend the holiday to all institutions like schools and workplaces. B.C. has not yet announced whether it will observe the holiday.
