The disease took a turn in April and Don Iverson's health rapidly declined. He died June 4.
That proposal at Imagine van Gogh had special meaning for the couple: Iverson described himself as “too mule-headed” to say the words “I love you” during their courtship.
The words finally came out on a trip to New York as the couple stood before Van Gogh’s painting Starry Night at the Museum of Modern Art. When the couple travelled from Prince George to Vancouver to see if he was eligible for the expensive CAR T-cell therapy in 2021, Iverson was mostly thinking about love and his future with Pope — and he decided to propose at Imagine Van Gogh.“The treatment extended his life by at least a year-and-a-half,” said Pope from their home in Prince George. It also gave him time to love and be loved by the partner with whom he hoped to spend the rest of his life.
“I feel blessed to have loved and be loved by others,” he told Postmedia at the time of his proposal. “The only thing I can think about is excitement about spending the rest of my days with Chandra, and I’m not going to diminish that by worrying about how short that time might be.”There was an error, please provide a valid email address.By clicking on the sign up button you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.
