Horgan told Global News the province must create a new program from scratch.

“In COVID we got money to people fast and I think we can do that again. But it is a tremendous task to build these programs. There is no inflation program in anyone’s budget. It takes time to work these things through,” Horgan told the news outlet. “If we are going to stand up another program, we are going to have to start from scratch.”

The Bank of Canada on Wednesday raised the key overnight lending rate by a full percentage point to 2.5 per cent, the biggest single increase since 1998 in an effort to fight record inflation. “We’re working every day to identify how to best respond to the challenges that we know British Columbians are facing as a result of these changes to the interest rates,” Robinson said. “There’s additional steps that we are looking at and you’ll be hearing more about that in the short little while.”Article content
