Sawada is survived by his wife and two daughters
Sawada would play 10 more games in the world’s top ice hockey league before embarking on a jet-setting career that included stops in Finland, the U.K. and Asia. Sawada also played for several teams in the American Hockey League.
“Ray was such a bright light in the lives he touched,” fundraising organizer Brianne Sameshima wrote in the fundraising post. “He enjoyed travelling with Nicole, the girls, and family and friends.
