Esme Arias-Kim, an award-winning violinist from Hoffman Estates, will join the New Philharmonic for its upcoming concert, “Korngold’s Hollywood Concerto.”
Esme Arias-Kim, 17, of Hoffman Estates will be the guest violinist at New Philharmonic’s Jan. 21-22 concerts at the McAninch Arts Center in Glen Ellyn.
“I really like how free it is, but at the same time one of the challenges is it has to be really planned out because there are some parts with the orchestra that have to be very well-timed. It’s finding a balance between that freedom and that expression but also being with the orchestra and communicating with the orchestra in conversation.”
“The pressure is also what makes the feeling of performing it very magical when I play it,” she said. “I really enjoy different aspects of this concerto.”“I’m very much looking forward to it,” she said. “I’ve seen him conduct before many times and I’ve heard great things about him.”“People come to concerts with different intentions. They can come with different ideas about what they’re going to get out of it and also take away many different aspects of a performance,” she said.
