The Avs didn’t trade for a second-line center, but they did get a third-line anchor: 33-year-old rental Lars Eller from the Washington Capitals.
The Avalanche traded for depth center Lars Eller from the Capitals on Wednesday, the team announced.
There’s a chance he plays Wednesday night vs. New Jersey at Ball Arena. As of Wednesday morning, the team was working out flight details for Eller to arrive in Denver by game time. The Capitals are currently in Anaheim to play the Ducks. With the Avs sending away another draft pick in the trade, they are now without their 2023, ’24 and ’25 second-round picks. The organization also doesn’t have third-round picks this year or next.
