Avatar 3, 4 & 5 Delayed: New BTS Image As Franchise Plans Stretch Into The 2030s

A new behind-the-scenes image from Avatar 3 has been released alongside confirmation that James Cameron’s Avatar 3, 4, and 5 have all been delayed.

After the huge success of Avatar: The Way of Water, producer Jon Landau shares a new behind-the-scenes image from Avatar 3 alongside confirmation that the film and it's two sequels have now all been delayed. Following director James Cameron's latest sequel, it was confirmed that the Sully family saga would continue with three additional films, the first of which was slated to release in December of 2024. Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 were expected to release in 2026 and 2028, respectively.

Avatar 4 is now slated for a December 2029 release and Avatar 5 for December 2031. The news comes alongside a new behind-the-scenes image of the upcoming sequel from Landau, which he shared on Twitter.
