CEO cites California regulations and legal liabilities as factors in selling the family business
The Bob Baker Auto Group, a staple in the San Diego car market since the 1970s, is no more.in a transaction completed on June 5. Neither party would disclose the purchase price.
AutoNation already owns a BMW dealership at the Car Country Carlsbad auto mall so the acquisition of the Bob Baker Auto Group means the Florida-based company now manages six dealerships in North County. “I was at a point where I realized I either needed to grow much bigger to get more support to run my organization — because I’m very hands-on — or I needed to go the other way and get out of the business,” he said.
