DETROIT — The Maple Leafs could have Auston Matthews back in the lineup on Thursday night.
Otherwise, Keefe was tight-lipped when he was asked whether Matthews’ lingering injury is affecting his shooting.The only two Leafs on the ice Thursday morning were forward Dryden Hunt and defenceman Conor Timmins. Keefe said there were “some game-time decisions” to come.
With their fathers on the trip — though some, such as centre David Kampf, whose older brother Tomas is here, have been joined by other family members — the Leafs will look to improve to 6-0-1 in the second game of back-to-back sets. The Leafs have owned the Wings, winning nine of the past 10 meetings and going 13-0-2 in the past 15 games against Detroit.
