Austin Westlake defeated Brennan 47-7.In a performance atypical of its high-octane offense, Brennan went scoreless through three quarters and turned the ball over six times in a 47-7 loss to Austin Westlake in the Class 6A Division I quarterfinal Saturday afternoon at the Alamodome.
In the loss, Ashton Dubose threw for 219 yards to push his career total to a city-record 9,433 yards, eclipsing former Somerset quarterback Stevie Joe Dorman’s previous mark of 9,253 yards set in 2007-10. Judson Crockett blocked a Brennan punt early in the second quarter, and Wyatt Dollar recovered the ball at the Bears’ 23-yard-line. Westlake running back Jackson Kayser converted the special teams blunder into points as he carried the ball on a sweep and dove over the pylon to make it 17-0.
Westlake further increased its advantage in the third quarter with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Skinner to Kansas commit Keaton Kubecka and a 19-yard touchdown run by Grady Bartlett.
