The two largest universities in Alabama are now offering free period products on campus thanks to student-led efforts.

The universities are the first in the state to offer free period products. Earlier this year, Gov. Kay Ivey signed a bill to establish-- an effort that was also led by students in Montgomery. “A lot of people that were involved in Period either at our specific chapter or across the country, have just been super frustrated that they themselves had to experience [period poverty] knowing that there are really tangible solutions,” said Moss.

Whereas Auburn’s new initiative is funded by the Office of Inclusion and Diversity and Facilities Management, the University of Alabama’s program has been buoyed by a $10,000 grant from the Alabama Power Foundation.
