“It’s a unique opportunity,” Beckie said of Saturday’s initiative. “Sometimes, maybe, young players have blinders on, but it creates conversations.”
The non-profit organization, which has chapters across the country, works directly with social agencies, providing safe, free transportation and storage for those who need to move in a hurry.Article content The relationship with Atletico grew after Jon Sinden, an employee in the club’s marketing department, began looking into ways the team could help. It grew from there into the third jersey concept.
Beckie, who also works on the field in helping develop the skills of young players, says it’s vital that the athletes become positive role models while being involved with initiatives like what is happening Saturday.
