Atascocita scored more unearned runs in its two wins over Deer Park than earned runs
Deer Park catcher Dillon Lester orders no more throws as Atascocita's fifth unearned run of the first inning scores behind him.ATASCOCITA - The third inning from Thursday night's game at Jim Kethan, the 11th inning from that contest and now the maroon and gold has a new addition to its forgettable collection of miscues in this weekend's bi-district baseball series against Atascocita High School.
It was a major achievement just to earn a Game 3 after losing that 11-inning marathon contest on their home turf, but happy-go-lucky Game 2 hurler Bennett Springer made it happen with a superb outing Friday night in leading the team to a 4-0 win. Atascocita is one step closer to reaching the state tournament despite scoring more unearned runs in Games 1 and 3 than earned runs. No two ways about it, those first-inning miscues Saturday were just un-Deer Park like.
The series setback had to be a crusher to Dylan Marbury, who hit in the neighborhood of .450 for the three games. He added two more hits Saturday, a double to start the game and a single in the fifth. Just a junior, the Deer appear to already have their leadoff man ready to go for the 2024 campaign.
