At least one dead in I-5 crash in Carlsbad [Breaking]
At least one person was killed Monday night in a collision on south Interstate 5 in Carlsbad, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred just before 9:20 p.m. on the freeway south of Carlsbad Village Drive, according to a Highway Patrol incident log. Witnesses reported that three vehicles, including a big rig and an SUV, were involved in the crash, according to the CHP. The SUV reportedly ended up on the right shoulder of the freeway in a precarious position above an embankment leading down to apartment buildings below.
About 45 minutes after the crash, Highway Patrol officers requested personnel from the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office and the CHP categorized the collision as a fatality.— Caltrans San Diego
