JOHANNESBURG - Researchers at Wits University say at least one million South Africans could contract COVID-19 within 40 days."Following experience from other countries, we know that, if not contained, the growth of the number of people affected is very fast.We could exponentially see a very fast growth", said one of the researchers, Professor Bruce Mellado.

On Monday, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown following an increase in the number of people infected by COVID-19.
