Astros’ Yordan Alvarez lets it be known: 'My hands don’t hurt'

. The skipper even said Alvarez “is going to have to live with for a while.”

“I just saw this morning that Dusty said that the reason for the day off is my hands are sore. Thankfully, my hands don’t hurt,” Alvarez said after the game through an interpreter. “They feel pretty good right now. I think there was some miscommunication. I was under the impression that it was just a scheduled off day, but thankfully my hands feel good.”

“No,” Baker said. “He’s sore a little bit. Check swings, swings and misses. Same thing. I think it’s better that we — a day after night — we don’t make it more sore than it already is. He’s going to have to live with it for a while, you know what I mean? I don’t know what hand it is.”‘I think it was more, maybe he meant to say I played a couple days in a row so today was probably a good day to get a day off, but maybe he just didn’t find the correct way to say it,” Alvarez said.

Alvarez said he was available off the bench during Wednesday’s game and planned to be in the starting lineup on Thursday.
