Every game in the UK at every level – from Premier League to grassroots – was postponed across Friday, Saturday and Sunday as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The Premier League has yet to confirm whether or not the whole top-flight schedule will resume this weekend ahead of the late monarch’s funeral on Monday, September 19.
But it is understood that West Midlands Police has given the go-ahead for the 8pm BST kick-off at Villa Park on Friday night.
