Aston's incoming 707hp flagship is apparently already too successful for St Athan line to cope
It's been a breakneck few months, and there's no suggestion it's slowing down either. Last year we were reporting proposed; today the manufacturer confirmed that when the DBX707 enters production next month it will require more than 100 new automotive technicians to support it."As we ramp-up production of DBX707, we are delighted to have the opportunity to increase our team at St Athan and create more employment opportunities for the local community," reported Moers.
In fact, Aston's CEO has been spreading the love all over the place recently. He was also at pains to explain that even though Aston had been hinting at the V12 Vantage being a swan song for the firm, it apparently wasn't referring to the iconic engine that bequeathed the model its name."No, we won't do that,"when asked about the unit's lifespan.
Turns out we might be four or five years from the demise of the 5.9-litre unit, although Moers did suggest the V12 might become more rarefied as time goes on. Not that he's worried about giving people bad news when necessary: Valkyrie customers havethat noise-cancelling headphones will be required to drive the 126-decibel hyper car for a prolonged period. Given that racket comes from a Cosworth-built V12, the chosen few are said to be okay with it. You do wonder about the neighbours, though.
