Young cricket enthusiasts from the Actonville mini-cricket hub enjoyed an unforgettable experience when they were invited to the Proteas men’s team’s ICC Cricket World Cup send-off at Southern Sun, OR Tambo International Airport, on September 23.

The youngsters shook hands with the country’s premium cricketers, including Quinton de Kock, who is retiring from ODI cricket after the tournament, seamer Kagiso Rabada and batting coach JP Duminy. “The event was a remarkable opportunity for these budding cricketers to witness the South African cricket stars in action as they embarked on an important journey,” said hub co-ordinator Basheera Mayet, who is also a teacher at Pioneer Primary School.

Mayet expressed her gratitude to KFC mini-cricket, Eastern Cricket Union and Cricket South Africa for giving the learners an opportunity to rub shoulders with their cricketing heroes. “This memorable send-off will leave a lasting impact on their young minds. It will undoubtedly serve as a significant milestone in the journey of these aspiring cricketers, motivating them to aim high and reach for the stars,” she said. Also Read: KFC Mini-cricket programme continues to be impactful
