Five men are currently standing trial accused of 28-year-old council worker's murder

The man accused of being the "driver" for Ashley Dale's killer has claimed that he was watching an Anthony Joshua fight in his pyjamas at the time of the shooting.

Peers stated that he had watched the Anthony Joshua v Oleksandr Usyk boxing match that evening while "laying down on the rug in the living room with me dog". Mr Wright said: "At the time the home of Ashley Dale was entered by Mr Witham and she was shot, what were you doing?" But Peers said that Witham unexpectedly diverted to the house of a man called David McCaig and picked up cannabis from another man, Barry Westall, before he was dropped off close to his mum's house. The vehicle activated an ANPR camera near to this address at 11.07pm, and his phone was then used for the first time in two hours in the vicinity of his home at 11.09pm.

Peers said he watched the announcement of the result, which Mr Wright said was at "approximately nine minutes past midnight". His counsel asked: "What were you then intending to do?"Mr Wright said that his phone was cell siting in the area of his home at 12.43am when Zeisz attempted to call him. Peers told the court: "My dad is lazy, he never put it on charge when I’ve gone upstairs.

"My mum has seen a male on the camera and said who’s that, who’s that? I’ve looked out me window and seen it to be Witham."I’ve been a bit bewildered. I’ve come to the door, he’s said do you want to come back the flat?”"He just said, what are you doing now? I said getting ready for bed really, why you knocking this late?Peers said he changed out of his pyjamas, and they then left for Pilch Lane on foot. He added: "I didn’t know Witham was going to knock after 1 o'clock.

Paul Greaney KC told a jury of five men and seven women during the prosecution's opening earlier this month that Witham and "driver" Peers, were "dispatched" to assassinate Harrison and "leave no witnesses". They had allegedly received their orders from Niall Barry, Sean Zeisz and Ian Fitzgibbon - who were said to have been "directing operations" from a flat on Pilch Lane in Huyton.
