The story of the women Air Force service pilots, or 'WASPS,' begins in the early 1940s. It was a program born out of necessity and fueled by young women pilots from all across the country who answered the call to duty during World War II.

Today, stories like Kruse's live vibrantly and vividly on display at Texas Women's University in Denton. "This is a group of women that was forgotten for decades," Landdeck said."From the 1940s all the way through the 70's and 80's, and they decided they didn't want to be forgotten."
