A pilot project is off to a budding start in Saanich as artists mark the completion of a new road mural portraying the motif of rare yellow montane violets.

The mural was designed by local artist Desiree Shelley, who worked with neighbours to develop a design that reflected the street’s identity. Shelley’s referring to long-time resident and artist Tannis Warburton, who initially alerted B.C.’s Ministry of Environment of his discovery and has since been honoured with a plaque in the park.
