Bill Nelson, the second member of U.S. Congress to fly into space and the current administrator at NASA, joined GMSD to talk about when NASA plans to reschedule the Artemis 1 launch. More info:
SAN DIEGO – NASA’s launch of the Artemis 1 was rescheduled a second time after a liquid hydrogen leak caused a launch scrub on Saturday, Sept. 3.
The Artemis 1 is an unmanned spacecraft meant to act as the test launch for man’s first return to the moon since 1972. It will be the first integrated test of NASA’s Space Launch System rocket, Orion spacecraft, and the ground systems at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The actual trip to the moon, not scheduled until after a successful test launch, would include the first woman and first person of color to visit the moon. The trip will test the rocket tech that will be needed for the future of deep space travel.
