Arsenal's Mohamed Elneny has been ruled out of action for an ‘extended period’ AFC

The Press Association claim Elneny is in a ‘race against time’ to feature again this season and with hisA statement from Arsenal read: “Following an injury sustained in a recent training session, subsequent assessments have confirmed that Mohamed Elneny has a significant injury to his right knee.

The loss of Elneny sees Arsenal with Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira as natural central midfield options in Mikel Arteta’s 4-3-3 formation. Left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko can also play in the position.
