Fabio Vieira made his full first team debut in the league and 15-year-old Ethan Nwaneri was named on the bench for the first time for Arsenal, who also welcomed back Thomas Partey.
Despite an encouraging start, the Bees struggled to get beyond the strong defensive lines the Gunners provided and relied a lot on long passes and shots from afar. Arsenal weren’t done three minutes in the second half and added a third when Vieira finished off a clever pass from Saka to open his Premier League account.
The Bees started to see a lot of the ball during the midway point of the second half and with that managed to work a chance through Mikkel Damsgaard which Aaron Ramsdale smothered.
