MORE: Arrest made in kidnapping of 22-year-old Chinese national in Markham but victim still missing
In a news release issued Tuesday, York Regional Police confirmed that a 35-year-old Toronto man had been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Wanzhen Lu, who was abducted from the parking garage of a condo near Highway 7 and Birchmount Road.
Police say one of the suspects shocked Lu with a conducted energy weapon multiple times and forced him into the van before driving off. One Monday afternoon, York Regional Police Const. Andy Pattenden confirmed that the van used in the abduction was recovered at an unspecified location in Toronto on Sunday night.“We haven’t heard anything from him or the suspects,” Pattenden told reporters on Tuesday. “Time is of the essence and we need to find him right away… We are remaining positive that he is in good health.”
