PITTSBURG — A 40-year-old Antioch man has been arrested as the main suspect in a 16-year-old cold-case killing, after DNA evidence helped detectives track him down, police said Friday.on June 8, 2007, in a drug-related robbery. Police in a statement said they arrested Blake on suspicion of murder but did not say when and where they caught him.
Blake remained in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility on Friday afternoon in lieu of $2.3 million bail, according to jail records. “Pittsburg PD is dedicated to solving unsolved cases and bringing justice to victims and their families,” Chief Steve Albanese said in the statement. “The arrest in this cold-case homicide serves as a reminder that justice can be served no matter how much time has passed.”
Officers found Abercrombie with gunshot wounds in front of his home in the 200 block of S. Catamaran Circle about 10:45 p.m. He died at John Muir Medical Center in Concord after being rushed there in an ambulance.
