Army and Navy reservists stationed in Manila are ready to assist the new city government in times of disasters, Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said after a courtesy call made by officials from the Army Reserve Command and Naval Reserve Command at the Manila City Hall on Wednesday.
Earlier, disaster response officials admitted to Domagoso that Manila is not ready in case “The Big One” or a magnitude 7.2 earthquake jolts the nation’s capital.
“The Army and Navy are already stationed here in Manila. Some of them are stationed in one of the field offices of the MDRRMO ,” Domagoso said. Domagoso assured the public that the city government would tap all available resources amid reports of Manila’s financial woes that were allegedly left by the previous administration.
