In October 2023 at about 14:30, SAPS Mount Road detectives were busy with investigation in Steboneath Road in Sydenham when detectives noticed a man running with a knife and cellphone in his hands. The members became suspicious and pursued after him. While the detectives were busy interviewing him at the police station, the complainant arrived at the station to report the robbery. He indicated that he was at the North End lake in his vehicle, a Toyota Corolla when he was approached by a suspect wearing a mask and armed with a knife. He was threatened and his cellphone taken. The complainant scuffled with the suspect and in the process, he was stabbed in his face and neck. He received medical treatment for the injuries.
