Armed police rush to Preston after knives threats outside Baluga bar
Two arrests have been made after reports of people being threatened with knives outside a popular Preston bar.
Sunday saw two men arrested by Preston Police after reports were made of people being threatened with the weapons outside Baluga bar in Miller Arcade. Police were called at around 3.50am and officers attended the scene to arrest both of the men. Two knives were also recovered as the officers, as well as armed police, attended the public order incident. Detective Inspector Simon Gray, of Preston Police, said: “This was clearly a very concerning and worrying incident.“Thanks to a very quick and proactive police response, two men were arrested and several knives seized. Knife crime impacts not only the individuals involved, but their families, friends and wider community.
"It’s truly devastating when an incident occurs so I urge anyone thinking about carrying a knife to reconsider as, in a brief moment, your life can be changed forever. Knife and violent crime are a priority and we continue to work together with partners to tackle the root causes of serious violence so that we can keep people and communities safe.”
As officers attended the scene, two men who are both aged 23 and from Preston, were arrested on suspicion of affray and are currently in custody.
