Wildcats All-American Susac goes to the Athletics with the 19th pick in the 2022 MLB draft.
Michael Lev Daniel Susac is a Sacramento kid. His family might not have to travel far to see him play in the majors.
Susac played two seasons for the Wildcats, and he was as consistent and productive as any player in the Pac-12. Starting almost every game at catcher, Susac batted .351 with 24 home runs and 126 RBIs in 125 contests. He was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2021 and earned consensus All-America honors this past season.
Holliday, whose father is a former batting champion, was chosen by Baltimore over Jones in somewhat of a surprise. Daniel Susac, a University of Arizona catcher who is a brother of former big leaguer Andrew Susac, was picked 19th by Oakland. Jones is a 6-foot-3 18-year-old from Wesleyan High in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. He hit .570 with 13 homers, 39 RBIs, 72 runs, 33 walks and 32 stolen bases this year. He also went 10-1 as a pitcher, though he is projected as an outfielder.
