The Arizona Cardinals have two quarterbacks under contract and neither will be ready for offseason workouts.

Kyler Murray isn’t the only quarterback on the Arizona Cardinals’ roster that won’t be ready to participate in offseason workouts because of injury. Veteran backup Colt McCoy, the only other quarterback under contract besides Murray, might also not be ready.

During a taped appearance on the latest Dave Pasch Podcast, per the Cardinals’ website, team owner Michael Bidwill said McCoy, 36, is dealing with an injury that likely will prevent him from being a full participant during organized team activities and upcoming mini camps. Bidwill did not specific what the injury is, although McCoy missed the end of the regular season because of a concussion and ongoing concussion symptoms. Murray, meanwhile, is rehabbing his right knee after undergoing ACL surgery in early January.

“Colt is coming back from an injury that is going to limit him in the offseason,” Bidwill said. “It’s another set of dynamics that Drew and JG have to work through, and Monti . We’ll see what exactly the plan is. That’s not for me to figure out, that’s for those guys to figure out.” The Cardinals will likely bring in at least two quarterbacks via free agency next month to run practices and they could re-sign one or both of the other quarterbacks who started games for them last season – Trace McSorley and David Blough. Blough is a restricted free agent and McSorley is set to become an unrestricted free agent.
