Are my taxes really still due today even though there's a pandemic?

The IRS announced a deadline extension stretching into the summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

the IRS also said that federal income tax payments due on April 15 could also be deferred to the July deadline without interest or penalties."This deferment applies to all taxpayers, including individuals, trusts and estates, corporations and other non-corporate tax filers as well as those who pay self-employment tax," the agency wrote in its announcement.

On April 9, the IRS extended the relief to include additional returns, tax payments, and other actions for all taxpayers with a filing or payment deadline between April 1, 2020 and July 15, 2020."Individuals, trusts, estates, corporations and other non-corporate tax filers qualify for the extra time.
