The complex aims to help people dealing with complex needs and housing insecurity with access to wrap-around supports. Close to the Loaves and Fishes food bank and soup kitchen, it is also within walking distance to the Ally Centre of Cape Breton and the Peer Six safe consumption site. Residents and others who signed the petition believe the affordable housing complex could result in harm to businesses in the area and tourism, such as cruise ship dockings.
