Will be at corner of Charlotte and Yorke streetsAs reported in the Cape Breton Post, the rapid housing initiative has been met with some negativity from residents in the area.
The complex aims to help people dealing with complex needs and housing insecurity with access to wrap-around supports. Close to the Loaves and Fishes food bank and soup kitchen, it is also within walking distance to the Ally Centre of Cape Breton and the Peer Six safe consumption site. Residents and others who signed the petition believe the affordable housing complex could result in harm to businesses in the area and tourism, such as cruise ship dockings.
