Aramco Half Marathon: Leul Aleme, Hiwot Gebremaryam win titles
Brett Coomer/Houston ChronicleHiwot Gebremaryam made it look so easy. Leul Aleme did not have that luxury. The Ethiopian runner was dueling Wesley Kiptoo to the finish.
Aleme’s winning time was 1:00:34 over 13.1 miles. Kiptoo was clocked in 1:00:35. Aleme ran a pace of a 4:38 mile on the flat course. Gebremaryam, running in Houston for a first time and the 2021 Berlin Marathon runner-up, as well as Aleme collected $10,000 for their first-place money in this historically fast race.
