Apple is reportedly revealing a Passwords app at WWDC 2024 that will launch alongside iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15 this fall.

Every so often, Apple adds a brand new app to its suite of first-party software for the iPhone. It sounds like the latest addition will make its debut next week. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple will show off the new Passwords app at WWDC 2024 ahead of the app's debut in the iOS 18, iPadOS18, and macOS 15 software updates later this fall.

As Gurman notes, spinning this feature off into its own standalone app encourages Apple users to be more mindful of their digital security, but it also puts the company in direct competition with developers of third-party password managers. That includes the likes of 1Password, LastPass, NordPass, Bitwarden, and Dashlane. Apple's Passwords app will reportedly show a list of logins across platforms and separate them into different categories.
