WATCH: 📱 The first Apple retail store in India opened to much fanfare from Apple fans around India. About 300 people queued at the store in Mumbai on Tuesday (April 19) and took selfies with chief executive Tim Cook, who inaugurated the store.
"The energy, creativity, and passion in Mumbai is incredible!" Mr Cook, who is making his first visit to India in seven years, said on Twitter."We are so excited to open ... our first store in India."
"The fanboy inside me would not listen," Mr Purav Mehta, 30, told Reuters, as he waited to get Mr Cook's signature on his boxed mint-condition iPod Touch, which he had bought on eBay, as well as waiting to buy the Apple Watch Ultra. Apple has previously faced hurdles in opening physical retail stores in the South Asian nation, but its products have been available on e-commerce websites, while its online store opened in 2020.
